Get help with blood cancer treatment costs

AES may be able to help with a bill that cannot wait during blood cancer treatment.

Who can ask
A patient, caregiver, or immediate family member, anywhere in the United States, when the diagnosis is leukemia, lymphoma, or myeloma.
What it can cover
Utilities, childcare and elder care, prescription co-pays, medical bills, and other necessary household costs.
What it does not cover
Rent and mortgage payments. What AES can do depends on need and the funds available, so every request is reviewed on its own.

If you are not sure whether your situation fits, it is still okay to ask.

Questions from families

Who can ask for help?

The patient, a caregiver, or an immediate family member can write. Hospital social workers helping a family can also write on their behalf. The person in treatment needs to have a blood cancer: leukemia, lymphoma, or myeloma.

Do I have to live in Virginia?

No. AES is based in Portsmouth, Virginia and supports families anywhere in the United States.

What bills can AES help with?

Utilities, childcare and elder care, prescription co-pays, medical bills, and other necessary household costs. Every request is reviewed case by case, based on need and the funds available.

How fast will I hear back?

AES is volunteer-run, so timing varies. Every message is read, and we respond as we can. If your situation is urgent, say so in your message. If you have not heard back, email info@aescancerfoundation.org.

What documents do I need to apply?

None to start. A short overview of your situation is enough. AES may ask for more detail about the bill or the treatment before a decision is made.

Can I ask for help more than once?

Each request is reviewed on its own. If your situation changes, or a new bill becomes urgent, you can write again.

Can AES fund every request?

No, and we would rather say that plainly. AES is a small family-run foundation, and what it can do depends on the funds available at the time. We cannot promise a specific amount.

What if my bill is due right now?

Tell us the due date in your message. AES cannot guarantee emergency turnaround, but knowing the timeline helps us read your request with the right urgency.
